Preparing Files
For best results please follow our guidelines.

TEMPLATES:
Using PrintforChange.com's "Certified Templates"
ensures acurate production of your job.

FILE FORMAT:
We recommend saving as a .PDF
You may also send the file in the following types: jpg, jpeg, psd, tif, tiff, eps, ai, and png
We prefer that you send .PDF and .EPS files with outlined fonts. These files are easier to handle and
will likely speed up your turn-around. Remember to add crop marks and flatten your files before uploading.

EXPORTING A PDF CORRECTLY:
When exporting from any program such as Indesign or Illustrator, use these settings to make sure your .PDF file exports correctly.

FILE SIZE:
The maximum file size acceptable for upload is 100MB (megabytes) per file.

FONTS:
a. Fonts must be embedded in the PDF file.
b. Fonts must be outlined or converted to paths or curves in EPS files.

RESOLUTION:
All file formats must have a minimum of 350 dpi (dot per inch) resolution.
Print images need to be created at 350 dpi or there will be a substantial drop in the image quality.
Images designed for the web are done at a low screen resolution of 72 dpi and should not be used.

WHAT COLOR MODE SHOULD I SETUP MY FILES IN:
All color artwork and images must be provided in CMYK color mode (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) .
Print files should never contain images that use RGB color mode as they will not print correctly.
Always start and finish your jobs in CMYK.

All black & white images must be provided in Grayscale mode with black (K) printer only. Grayscale images are that are CMYK will have a color shift in the final print. The shift may be green or yellow.

Always convert your RGB images to CMYK then check the values of your grayscale image. If there is any cyan, magenta or yellow in the photo, there is a chance your grayscale will take on a hue other that black . To eliminate all values other than black, use Image> Adjustment> Channel Mixer> in Photoshop, click "Monochrome" and adjust accordingly.

HOW DO I MAKE SURE MY BLUES DON'T COME OUT PURPLE:
When using blue in your design, always make sure to leave at least 30% difference between your Cyan and Magenta values.
Blue is close to purple in the CMYK color spectrum. To avoid purple blues, use a lower amount of magenta when using higher amounts of cyan. Example: 100% C 70%  M 0% Y 0% K.

100% C 100% M on screen.

100% C 100% M  on press.

HOW SHOULD I SETUP A RICH BLACK:
Rich Black is a term used to refer to a color value containing all four of the CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) colors. Rich Black is recommended because no black ink is truly black, and the mixture of the CMYK helps to make the black "richer". We recommend tinting your solid black areas (not type) to 60% Cyan, 40% Magenta, 40% Yellow and 100% Black. We do not recommend CMYK values higher than this as this could cause muddiness and smearing.

HOW SHOULD I SETUP MY BLEEDS:
Bleed must extend further than the cut line. Using one of our templates can help you visualize this.
Please keep all text and anything you do not want cut at least .125" away from the cut line.

DO I NEED CROP MARKS:
Yes. When sending an .eps or .pdf, make sure you include crop marks so your job can be cut correctly.
Crop

SAFE ZONE:
All critical elements (text, images, logos, etc.) must be kept at least 0.125" inside the edge.
Anything closer than .125" to the edge may be cut off during trimming.

BORDERS:

Borders are not recommended, as shifting in the cutting process may make borders uneven.

SEETING UP MY FILES FOR PROPER ROTATION:
PrintforChange.com requires
"Print Ready" files with the proper rotation.
When we open your files, whatever is at the TOP of the screen on the FRONT page will backup whatever is at the TOP of the screen on the BACK page.
*Make sure to setup your files so that when we print them TOP to TOP the final product will read the way you want. Front and Back files must be setup either both sides vertically or both sides horizontally.
File Rotation
  * For files not setup correctly, PrintforChange.com will use best judgement and will not be responsible for improper rotation.
